I've never noticed these cool Batman and Lone Ranger Shaker Maker sets before, I wonder why they chose to make the characters with such gigantic heads?

Probably because these things were so small, they probably couldn't have achieved the features as well as they did if the heads were to scale.
Didn't matter anyway, I'm sure 9 times out of ten the Joker came out of his mold without a nose, or Batman missing an "ear".
OMG!! Yet another childhood memory comes flooding back. I had Batman and Robin from these sets. I do not know what happened to the bodies but for years those painted heads, as well as the molds, floated around in my toy chest!! Thanks so much for your posts!!!

Robin's legs sure look sexy though.
I kind of remember the Shaker Maker, how big are those things again? I never had one but they do look kind of fun!
